Multiple PacketLogic™ PL7720 Systems Installed that Integrate with LOS GATOS, Calif., November 17, 2009 – Procera® Networks Inc. (NYSE Amex: PKT), a developer of Evolved Deep Packet Inspection (DPI) solutions providing traffic awareness, control and protection for complex networks, today announced that yet another university in the US has selected PacketLogic PL7720 to be deployed across the network. Liberty University installed multiple PacketLogic PL7720 to gain visibility into network traffic and to balance the bandwidth consumption between academic and non-academic network traffic. "The application and user awareness provided by Procera's technology enables us to better protect our users from hazards and to secure fair use of network resources," said Mark Norris at Liberty University. "Procera's native integration with, and support for our Bradford Campus Manager provided quick implementation of volume-based quotas that are used for fair-usage policies in case of congestion." Liberty University, founded in 1971, is based in Lynchburg, Virginia. Its 5,000-acre campus consists of 123 buildings with 163 classrooms. The undergraduate and graduate academic programs include 11,800 residential and 36,000 distance-learning students and close to 800 faculty. Procera's reseller partner IGD Solutions Corporation quickly identified that Liberty University, like most Higher Education campuses, had issues balancing academic and recreational Internet bandwidth consumption with a growing number of students, increasing over-all Internet usage, and a myriad of applications, resulting in continuous bandwidth upgrades in order to guarantee quality. IGD recommended Procera's DPI solution integrated with the already deployed Bradford Campus Manager solution. "Liberty University's Bradford integration is yet another illustration of PacketLogic's ability to quickly facilitate new services and functions using the PacketLogic Subscriber Manager (PSM) suite to hook into surrounding systems," said Jon Lindén, Procera's vice president of global marketing. "DPI is readily used by universities to increase the intelligence about their network traffic enabling them to take full advantage of the network infrastructure investments they've made, while at the same time maximizing fairness between network users. Liberty University is one more testimonial of how Procera continues to increase our leadership in the Higher Education market world-wide." About Procera Networks Inc. |
