PacketLogic is a state-of-the-art deep packet inspection (DPI) solution that offers an extensive feature-richness in the software modules LiveView, Filtering, Traffic Shaping, Statistics and WebStatistics. The PacketLogic hardware platforms offer a range of configurations from the entry-level 4 Mbps PL5600 through through 2 Gbps PL7720.   At the top of the line is the high-end PL10000 series with capacity up to 80Gbps, and 5M subscribers per system.  It consists of a modular AdvancedTCA (ATCA) chassis solution in three sizes – PL10002 3RU (rack units), PL10005 5RU and PL10014 12RU.

Completing the product suite is the PL1200 Statistics server, which aggregates traffic data for further analysis. As fully integrated solutions, PacketLogic products give network managers access to relevant network traffic intelligence that enables network optimization, creation of appealing services and protection against malicious behavior.

Service Creation

DPI has matured from P2P control to being a business-critical tool in any and all service provider networks. Procera’s Evolved DPI makes Service Creation possible with the most accurate user and location awareness found in the PacketLogic Subscriber Manager (PSM) software suite.

PacketLogic Subscriber Manager (PSM) integrates PacketLogic with network systems like AAA, OSS, BSS, provisioning and policy managers. This enables per-user tracking and policies, also known as user awareness, as well as knowledge of where in the network the user connects, i.e. location awareness. User awareness is required to create personalized offerings that attract new customers, minimize churn, and increase ARPU through value-add services. Location awareness makes it possible to resolve, or even avoid, congestion, enhancing the user-experience. It can also control roaming costs through automatic policy enforcement.

Accurate Decisions Require Accurate Intelligence

PacketLogic provides unparalleled accuracy in network traffic identification by leveraging DRDL™ (Datastream Recognition Definition Language). DRDL has more than 800 signatures that facilitate a broad range of criteria like header information, actual payload, bi-directional traffic information and the characteristics of a handshake. All the information provided by DRDL is presented in real-time.

Recently released, Version 12 of the PacketLogic firmware incorporates all the functionality in version 11. On top of that, version 12 introduces a unique and pertinent support of asymmetric traffic (Flow Sync and Queue Sync). The low overhead of administrative traffic makes Flow and Queue Sync feasible even for large networks. Version 12 also introduces the new PacketLogic Statistics Daemon (PLSD) that makes Statistics scalable to millions of customers through a hierarchical structure, while still giving instant response to queries.
